A.G.B.U. Alex & Marie Manoogian School Targeted Several Areas for Improvement in 2004-2005 School Year

Southfield, MI – Curriculum Alignment - Prepared outlines correlating all K-8 courses with state benchmarks. At year-end, began similar effort for grades 9-12 courses to meet new Michigan high school benchmark requirement. ESL - Program grew as school welcomed more ESL students. Counselor developed process for documenting each student's native-country coursework and converting it to our records. By year-end, many of these students were on the honor roll. Faculty Assistance - Faculty members and groups developed lists for equipping new classrooms built over the summer, assisted by parents who helped pack the building. Faculty Development - Faculty attended conferences in areas they and the administration deemed useful. School provided workshop on inclusion, and entire faculty attended annual MAPSA conference. Three aides completed classes to become certified as highly qualified under latest state regulations. High School - New 16-station computer lab added to high school. School Emergency Plan - Plan was reviewed, updated, practiced and given to all personnel. This year's review will integrate most recent renovation. School Enrichment - School-wide zero-tolerance profanity policy instituted.

Study Skills students were trained in organization and given notebooks to use in all classes. To better meet needs of students at all levels, tracking initiated in grades 6-12 math and 9-12 science. Computerization of library checkout system began, with books gradually being coded. Sixth-grade band program continued. Testing - School purchased and faculty instructed in using Skills Connection component of Scantron computerized testing system to benefit all students.
